International Music Competition 


TEREM CROSSOVER is a unique festival competition, established in 2010 and unparalleled the world over. The competition brings together professional musicians with different specialities whose passion for performing is not restricted by strict academic canons - entrants are almost completely free in their choice of repertoire and can play any acoustic musical instruments, combining different styles and areas in their music. The main criterion by which candidates are assessed, according to the organisers' vision, is the depth of the emotional and spiritual impact that their music has on listeners.

The modern interactive concept, the individuality and professionalism of participants, the diversity of inimitable arrangements and the powerful energy of the performances held in the format of an open concert - all this makes the TEREM CROSSOVER music competition a truly remarkable and spectacular event. This is borne out by the high ratings of the TV version of the Competition, shown on the 100 TV popular Petersburg TV channel. During the broadcast of the final round, thousands of viewers play an active part in selecting the Competition winner by direct telephone voting.

Today, TEREM CROSSOVER ranks highly in the rating of major international music competitions: around 100 professional ensembles - a total of over 400 musicians from 20+ countries of Europe, Asia and America - took part in the I and II Competitions following the shortlisting process. The Competition's prize fund stands at over 1,000,000 roubles and includes large cash prizes and numerous special prizes, including a concert tour around Russia's cities, concerts at various music festivals in Russia and abroad.
Eminent musicians, well-known composers and authoritative figures of the music business of Russia, Europe and Asia are invited to sit on the Competition's jury.

The Competition's busy concert programme introduces the public to international stars from the instrumental music world, and allows them to see and hear the Competition's entrants in non-competitive performances at various Petersburg venues. Master classes and seminars on music management held by recognised experts in this area are arranged for professionals.

The idea for the Competition was conceived by, and the Competition itself was founded and is organised by the St. Petersburg ensemble Terem Quartet. The Competition is supported by the Committe for Culture of Saint Petersburg and Committee for External Relations of Saint Petersburg.
